Here's the math. Making your own taco seasoning by measuring out of each individual spice jar costs less than 2 dollars. Yet if you purchase all of the individual spices (about $17.00 or so), not only can you use the spices for other recipes, you can still make taco seasoning a good dozen times - and without additives or added salt.

This recipe can easily be multiplied, and like any other spice blend, will keep well in a ziplock bag or tightly sealed container in your spice cupboard. Use this to make Taco Salad.
1 tsp. | chili powder |
1/8 tsp. | cayenne pepper |
1 tsp. | dried oregano leaves |
1 tsp. | smoked paprika or paprika |
1/2 tsp. | ground cumin |
1/4 tsp. | salt |
Place the chili powder, cayenne pepper, oregano, paprika, cumin and salt in a small dish and blend well.
