“Texas: 32 electoral votes, another of the so-called big enchiladas or if not an enchilada at least a huge taco.” Dan Rather, Newsman

The refrigerator light goes on...

Here's the math. Making your own taco seasoning by measuring out of each individual spice jar costs less than 2 dollars. Yet if you purchase all of the individual spices (about $17.00 or so), not only can you use the spices for other recipes, you can still make taco seasoning a good dozen times - and without additives or added salt.

Taco Seasoning Mix

Servings: 4 | Serving size: 1/4 mixture

Cooking time: <15 minutes

This recipe can easily be multiplied, and like any other spice blend, will keep well in a ziplock bag or tightly sealed container in your spice cupboard.  Use this to make Taco Salad.

1 tsp. chili powder
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
1 tsp. dried oregano leaves
1 tsp. smoked paprika or paprika
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
1/4 tsp. salt

Place the chili powder, cayenne pepper, oregano, paprika, cumin and salt in a small dish and blend well.
