Wearing copper and Coumadin (warfarin)

I take Coumadin and have developed painful arthritis in two of my fingers. Can I wear a copper ring?

Dr. Gourmet Says...

copper saucepans hanging from an overhead storage rack

Wearing copper rings and bracelets is safe, but will not help with arthritis in any way. People who sell such items are quacks who only want to steal your money.

Speak with your physician about a consultation with a rheumatologist.

There is good evidence that a Mediterranean diet has a positive effect on rheumatoid arthritis.

There is less evidence - but some - that it can help with osteoarthritis. You can find out more about following a Mediterranean diet here on the DrGourmet.com website.
