Ask Dr. Gourmet

Are goji berries safe for Coumadin (warfarin) users?

I've been reading a lot about the benefits of goji berries. Is there a conflict with Coumadin - I take 8 pills a week, 5mg.

Dr. Gourmet Says...

Dried goji berries

The benefits of goji berries are not well tested. There are countless substances and supplements that people make claims about that have no basis in fact.

There is at least one report in the literature that indicates an adverse interaction between goji berries and Coumadin® (warfarin). It would not be a good idea for you to use these.

Thanks for writing,
