Dr. Gourmet's Food Reviews

Coppola Organic Pomodoro-Basilico

Certainly one might expect good sauce from a genius film maker and vintner but often with such things one is disappointed. Given the price of $4.99 this sauce SHOULD be good.

And it is good. And it is worth the 5 bucks.

No added sugar is a bonus, but this is still sweet and tart. With a fresh, bright tomato flavor and big chunks of onion and green pepper, this bottled sauce tastes the closest to homemade that I have ever had. There's a lovely slight hint of cayenne flavor that gives the finish a zing. Buy this sauce and pair it with good pasta, Pan Grilled Broccoli and a little parmigiano-reggiano and the meal is quick, easy and delicious.

Mama Coppola should be proud of her boy!
