GERD / Acid Reflux Safe Recipes

Chicken / Poultry Recipes

These recipes should not provoke GERD / Acid Reflux / heartburn. Most of these recipes do not contain known GERD triggers. However, in many cases those with GERD / Acid Reflux will be able to tolerate small amounts of these known triggers, and those recipes with small amounts of GERD triggers are noted. Similarly, some recipes will be more likely to provoke symptoms when they are eaten in larger portions; these are also noted.

Foods and ingredients that trigger GERD / Acid Reflux / heartburn symptoms vary from person to person. While to the best of our knowledge these recipes should not trigger symptoms, only you know what foods are triggers for you. Keep a food diary so that you know which foods are triggers for you, and check the ingredients in each recipe to see if it contains foods that are triggers for you.

Asian Peanut Chicken with Noodles - No specific GERD triggers as long as you leave out the onion.
Cashew Chicken - This GERD-Friendly recipe is from Cooking to Reduce the Burn.
Chicken Fajitas with Roasted Red Peppers - This GERD-Friendly recipe is from Cooking to Reduce the Burn. Soaking the onions first and then caramelizing them may help reduce their impact as a GERD trigger. Roasting the pepper may reduce its impact as a GERD trigger. Not adding chili powder or cayenne pepper may help while cumin might be safe but still offer a fajita flavor.
Chicken Fingers - The garlic powder and onion powder are in small enough amounts that these should be safe for those with GERD. Choose your dipping sauces wisely.
Chicken Marsala - No specific GERD triggers.
Chicken Parmesan - No specific GERD triggers.
Chicken Pot Pie - The onions and garlic may be GERD triggers even in the small amount in this recipe. Consider leaving them out.
Chicken Pot Pie (Gluten Free Version) - The onions are cooked long enough that you may be able to tolerate them.

Chicken with Tarragon Mustard Cream - The mustard may be a GERD trigger, but the creaminess of the sauce may help this for some.
Crispy Chicken Sandwich - Tomatoes are a known GERD trigger. Leave it out.
