It's been seven months and 14 pounds since I began the Dr. Gourmet eating plan and now it's the holiday season. Folks in New Orleans celebrate by having numerous parties, each with excellent food and beverage. Yesterday I attended three parties, each with equally delicious and mostly home-made food! Free drinks at each one too (and you know I like that!). I feel heavier today even though the scale does not reveal weight gain. And it does not feel good. I prefer feeling lighter whether the scale says so or not.
As I've said in previous posts, I am a cook and I want to taste everything. I think that for the rest of the season I'll limit my indulgences to that: just TASTING. Small portions. And try to swim the next day.
An interesting consequence of cooking exclusively with DrGourmet.com recipes is that both Don and I prefer our own cooking to anything we've ordered in restaurants, with the exception of the thin-crust pizza at a favorite New Orleans Italian restaurant and the shrimp tacos at another favorite New Orleans Mexican restaurant. Most other foods we've tried are just too heavy! We feel bad in a physical sense after we eat... bloated and then we can't sleep as well.
So here are my holiday tips for dieters: small portions and exercise.
