Ask Dr. Gourmet

How long can I keep baked Mac & Cheese in the refrigerator or freezer?

How long we can keep a baked Mac & Cheese in refrigerator (<10°C) and how long in freezer (frozen)?

Dr. Gourmet Says...

macaroni and cheese

You should be safe to keep your baked Macaroni and Cheese in a tightly covered container in the refrigerator for about 48 to 72 hours. Let it cool, uncovered, for about 10 or 15 minutes before covering it and putting it in the fridge.

It will be safe to keep it frozen for about 2 months. I like to use freezer bags and divide meals like this into portions before freezing so that I can pull out what I need later.

Here are some great recipes for Mac & Cheese. Make extra and freeze the leftovers.

Salmon Mac and Cheese
Creamy Mac and Cheese
Baked Butternut Squash Mac and Cheese
Smoked Gouda Mac and Cheese
Caprese Mac and Cheese
Smokey Shrimp Mac & Cheese
Creamy Mushroom Mac and Cheese
Quick Cheeseburger Mac
Cauliflower Mac and Cheese
Pepperoni Pizza Mac and Cheese
