Ask Dr. Gourmet

How can I make a Vegetarian meal plan without goat cheese?

I signed up for The Dr. Gourmet Diet Plan today and do not seem able to get a menu. I requested "vegetarian" and within the list of foods I do not like I listed goat cheese. The menu I received includes an item requiring goat cheese. How I can get this straightened out?

Dr. Gourmet Says...

Fettuccine Alfredo made with goat cheese, click for recipe

The Vegetarian Diet option in The Dr. Gourmet Diet Plan does not offer the ability to eliminate ingredients, as you can with the omnivore version of the planner. We chose to do this so that you have the greatest number of recipes available for your meal plan - and therefore more variety in your menus. You might try simply selecting an alternative recipe when those that have ingredients you don't like appear in your menu.

In most Dr. Gourmet recipes, however, the goat cheese is used in small amounts to add creaminess to the sauces and doesn't actually add much flavor. You may find that you don't dislike it used in those smaller amounts.
